Taxis are relatively easy to flag down and hop onto in Kuala Lumpur. However, safety must always be your top priority. We recommend students to use an application known as MyTeksi or Grab which is available on smart phone. It is a taxi booking application which can also be used in Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. Details about the application may be found at https://www.grab.com/my/taxi/
Besides there a few taxi companies which are generally reliable and you may call beforehand. Below is a list:
There are several bus operators operating in Kuala Lumpur, linking the city centre with the suburbs of the Klang Valley. The main operator is RapidKL. Tickets can be bought per bus trip. However, a more convenient way would be to purchase a rapidpass Integrasi card which can be used all Tempatan, Bandar, Utama and Ekspress bus routes and on Kelana Jaya Line LRT, Ampang Line LRT and Monorail services. For more information on bus fares and passes do visit rapidKL’s website .
The city is linked by rail with three major lines; the LRT (Light Rail Transit), KL Monorail and KTM Komuter. The services are frequent, punctual and hassle-free, and there are bus services from train stations to designated areas.
Moving from one system to another may require a bit of walking. It is important to note that different lines may have differing ticketing system requiring users to buy new tickets when transferring between lines.
The nearest LRT station to IMU would be the Sri Petaling station which is only a 5-minute walk away.
